ArtMoves Midwest

The region’s art conversation, in long form — a podcast and video series of the Smith Family Foundation.

The Show

Three years behind the mic

19+ episodes since November 2023, with the curators, museum directors, collectors, and working artists shaping the Midwest art conversation.

Guests have included Kemper Museum chief curator Jessica Hong, internationally shown artist Amir Fallah, collection artist Kiki Serna, Kemper executive director Jessica May, collector Matt Strange, and Kansas City artists Mikey Yates, H. Smith, SK Reed, and Elise Gagliardi.

The show is co-hosted by foundation primary advisor Dwight Oran Smith and retired plastic surgeon Dr. Regina Nouhan — and every episode also airs as video on the ArtMoves YouTube channel, extending each conversation to a second audience.

Why It Matters

Public programming, on the record

ArtMoves Midwest is the foundation’s documented public programming: a standing record of conversations with the people building contemporary art in the region and beyond. It carries the foundation’s ethos — Self. Seek. Become. — into every interview, and it carries every interview back out across the foundation’s four-page media ecosystem.
